We are proud to host the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. sculpture fund raising event Thursday, December 14th from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. to be held at our gallery at 800 S. Jason St. in Denver, Colorado. Local artist Irving Watts will be on hand to paint pastel portraits both from images or in person. Irving is a perfect fit due to his teaching in after school programs for the past thirty years and his extensive service with the Black American West Museum. The goal of this event is to fund a life-sized sculpture of Dr. King by James Dixon to be donated to the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Early College, located in Denver. This school serves college bound students from grades 6 – 12 with a rigorous curriculum, strong support and intense focus on career pathways. With a 92 – 100% matriculation rate, the school is a three- time recipient of the Colorado Department of Education’s Center of Excellence Award. Come and see the smaller sculpture created by James that will be recreated life-sized, meet the artists involved in this worthy event and be in the running to have a portrait done by Irving Watts by a donation of twenty- five dollars or more. Refreshments will be served and we look forward to seeing both our family of clients as well as those wishing to be part of this wonderful endeavor.         M.O.
